Synopsis: Goodreads

Drastically altered after her fall at the end of Hidden, Neferet is now more dangerous than ever—and her quest for vengeance will wreak havoc on humans, as well as Zoey and her friends. Chaos is loosed in Tulsa and the House of Night is blamed. Can Zoey stop Neferet in time to keep her anger from escalating to full-on war? Or will someone else have to step in to take the fall?

Now, in the eleventh and penultimate installment of the series, the action is more intense and the stakes even higher as Zoey and her friends battle to protect their school and home from devastating evil—all while balancing romances, precarious friendships and the daily drama of the House of Night’s halls.

Review:

I have been trying to finish The House of Night series for a long time now, I’ve been constantly re reading the series from the start hoping to finally get to the end, and then another book will pop demanding to be read and I’d switch… 2023 was when I decided that would not happen again. I finally reached uncharted territories last year.

Onto Revealed: Shit really started hitting the fan here. And of course the characters continued to do stupid shit. Whilst I can see how they’re growing, the authors keep reminding us that ultimately these are teenagers and teenagers do stupid shit all the time! Zoey has so much influence over her own school, external forces like the police and even the Vampire Council and yet she is such a child! I understand that ‘Nyx has blessed her’ and all this, but everyone else are grown ass adults, some vampire adults, and yet they all offer no real help to Zoey telling her she knows what she must do and all this. HELLO SHE IS A CHILD!

Aside from that rage, I enjoyed the book. The story is fun, I won’t apologise for that. Of course Neferet, her evil nastyness, couldn’t stay away for long could she – causing us another major loss. Honestly I don’t know if Neferet is supposed to come across any way other than crazy, but she does. I’m kind of bored of Nefert as the villain now but not sure what other options they have since killing her isn’t an option.

I’m loving Aphrodite still, I’m cheering for her as with every book she grows some more! And truly, she deserves a happy ending. I hope she gets it – though the authors don’t seem to care for reader’s feelings when it comes to the core cast of characters!

If you look at some of the other reviews on Goodreads, something has come up a few times that I also felt like I needed to address – this series is rather weird with swear words and crude words and there were a few occassions in this book that felt off and a bit forced due to the words used. I think this was probably on purpose in at least a few specific occassions but otherwise, it’s just a bit odd. I know when I was younger I thought Zoey’s alternatives to swearing were funny and amusing, but as an adult reading the series it’s just annoying.

With all that said, the book gets a 3.5 star rating from me. It didn’t fully hit the mark, but I still enjoyed it and was not going to be deterred from finishing this series!
