September Wrap Up

I had a brilliant reading month in September. I hit my Goodreads reading goal this month, somewhat early on. It’s exciting to have reached this goal as I thought 24 (2 books a month) was already going to be difficult for me as I haven’t really read much since I lost my dad back in 2015! But 2024 has been a brilliant year for reading! All I have to decide now is do I increase the goal, or enjoy watching the number go up without feeling the pressure of reaching another number?

In September, I read 8 books (7 of which made up my entire TBR) which was brilliant! So let’s look at these books a bit and get some of the stats that I’m rather enjoying pulling together!

Reading Stats

Lowest Rating: 3.5 Stars to Bewitched by Laura Thalassa
Highest Rating: 3 books ended the month with 5 Stars, but I think Quicksilver by Callie Hart takes it!

4,041 pages read total! I was so close to hitting 3,000 pages in August, so to not only hit it in September but actually surpass it was pretty awesome! I read some excellent books this month, but some of them were very chunky books!

New Adult (Might be tied with Adult?)

I’m very clearly in my Romantasy era as every month both Fantasy and Romance are in the most popular genres, no matter YA, NA or Adult. I am unapologetic about this as I’m loving these genres at the moment!

New Authors

I read a few new(to-me) authors this month!

Lauren Roberts, Laura Thalassa and Callie Hart are all new to me authors!

How was the month?

As mentioned already, I’m really impressed with myself this month! I read all but one of the books on my September TBR and I’m reading Finale at the moment which was the last book on the TBR that I didn’t get to. I also read White Hot Kiss this month as a comfort re-read. This will not be appearing on the blog as a review because I reviewed the full trilogy on my previous blog The Reading Pile, and so I don’t feel like I should post another review again.

I will say that on a few occassions I felt like I didn’t want to read my TBR and instead wanted to pick up other books which I only let myself do the once. Following my birthday I got a lot of books and I want to read so many of them that I don’t necessarily know where to start – this is the reason why I didn’t let myself stray from the TBR. I worried that if I did I wouldn’t end up picking up any books!! That being said, I am beyond pleased with myself for managing to finish my whole TBR in September – this is not something that happens very often with me!

So, I went through my books read this year and realised that not only was I having rating regrets on a few books, but also that there were many months this year where I read a lot of excellent reads! As a result, picking the best and worst book of the month came down to ratings first, and what stuck with me second. Alchemy of Secrets by Stephanie Garber was described as an adult Caraval - and I adored Caraval so naturally I was hyped for this release. Then the reviews came out which made me nervous… I put it off until I drew it for a TBR prompt and then accidentally ended up buddy reading it with a friend. I had an excellent time doing so. Here’s the thing, there are so many books releasing next year, and there is no way I have heard about them all or have them all on this list… but this list are the ones I either have on preorder or reminders set to buy them (because I can’t keep surprising myself with these preorders that you have to pay for later!!). Oh it feels GOOD to have actually read book 2 in this trilogy! When I picked to reread Storm and Fury I knew I needed to actually continue the trilogy and finish it this time, so naturally I’m really pleased to have prioritised that and read Rage and Ruin!
