I originally thought October was going to end with just 5 books being read, meaning it would have fell quite short compared to September. However, I read 7 out of the 10 books on my TBR and I was really chuffed about that! This thought was because after I read Th1rt3en, I fell into a reading slump. That being said, I did still get to read some brilliant books! I was reading The Witch Collector at the end of the month, so sadly it didn’t make it into the wrap up – but let’s have a look at what I did read.
In October, I read 7 books which was over half of my TBR, but not quite beating September! But as always, lets have a look at the stats!

Reading Stats
Lowest Rating: 4 Stars (King’s Cage, The Unmarked Witch, Bespelled and Reckless)
Highest Rating: 5 Stars (Blood & Steel, The Serpent and the Wings of Night, Th1rt3en)
This month everything was given either 4 or 5 stars, I read some cracking books! So, I thought I’d do the below two stats as well (who knows, I might keep them for future Wrap Ups)
Biggest Surprise
Th1rt3en by Steve Cavanagh – received 5 stars and was the first book I’ve read in a while that was out of my usual genres!
Favourite Read
Torn between:
Blood & Steel by Helen Scheuerer and The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent
Format Stats
| Audiobook: 0 | Kindle: 5 |
| Paperback: 1 | Hardback: 1 |
This month I did a lot more reading out of my house, and so even though all of the books (except for Th1rt3en) were intended to be physical reads, I ended up reading the majority of them on the Kindle. Kindle Unlimited is fairly new in my life, but I’m already so grateful for it!
Total Pages Read
Total: 3,200 Pages
This is a fun stat, but I don’t know if it’s an interesting one! I use goodreads to come up with the total (especially for books I read on kindle as I’m not sure if there is a way to know the total pages on the kindle?) but it is a fun one to total every month! I’ll continue doing it in the meantime, unless I come up with something to replce it with!
Genre Breakdown (Previously: Most Popular Genres)
I decided to change this section and instead show a Genre Breakdown which will reveal the most popular genres!

I can’t say I’m surprised to see that I mostly read Fantasy and Romance novels this month! They have appeared in the most popular genre stat I think every month. I like what I like, what can I say? Ha. Of the 7 books I read this month, 6 of them were Fantasy and Romance novels!
Before I would have said I read mostly YA, but the last couple Wrap Ups have shown NA as the most popular! It’s a fun thing to look at!
New Authors
Again, we’ve got a few new authors this month!
Helen Scheuerer
Miranda Lyn
Steve Cavanagh
How was the month?
October was a tricky month. It started off well with some amazing books! Then I read Th1rt3en and after that it was about a week before I was able to actually read again. I think the slump was partly down to the fact that I wanted to continue reading the books in the series I’d already started rather than keep reading the TBR – but I was still excited for the books on my TBR. I couldn’t decide what to read so I suppose I decided not to read anything. But I did start reading again and although these books weren’t as good as the ones i’d read before, I still enjoyed them!

I will be slightly changing the posting schedule for the rest of 2024 as I would like to post the reviews for all of the books I read this year, IN this year. This is in the hopes that when we go into January, the reviews are posted pretty quickly after finishing the book – and the aim is to have them posted the same month that I read them (unless it was at the end of the month obviously!).
There will still be three reviews a week (except it will be every week at least until we don’t need that many! I don’t consistently read more than 9 books a month!) and I will alternate between Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the following week Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday postings. There will still be wrap up posts and TBRs, but this is so that hopefully I’ll be in a position in the new year to write reading blog posts as well as reviews!
