After the brilliant month that was November, I have another ambitious TBR set out for December. But it was so hard picking what to include because I keep jumping between what I want to read and the desire to continue the series I’ve already started! It’s a bit frustrating, but thats why the TBR is a guideline! That being said, I’m going to lay out the TBR a little differently this month!

November Left Overs

I started reading both of these at the end of November, and so I will be starting with these. The rest of the books I will read in the orders I choose at the time!

The Songbird & The Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent – Book 3 in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, technically Book 1 in a new duology in this series I believe. I know this is all about Mische so I cannot wait to dive in.
Future Tyler, butting in quickly – I finished reading this about 14 minutes before the post was due to go live. So i’m leaving it in, but know that it has already been finished!

Fireborne by Rosaria Munda – Book 1 in the Fireborne trilogy, I unfortunately had to put this down when I originally started reading it in November as it was a physical book and I just didn’t have enough time at home to read it so I was prioritising kindle reads – I’m excited to get back into it and finish it!

Christmas Reads

December 1st feels like the perfect time to start queuing up so Christmassy reads!

The Christmas Book Hunt by Jenny Colgan – Received as part of the Amazon First Reads Program
The Christmas Jigsaw Murders by Alexandra Benedict – Received a review copy from the publisher on Netgalley
Spectacular by Stephanie Garber – The novella released earlier this year, set in the Caraval world! As a recent finisher of the series, it feels like the right time to dive in now!

The Series Continues

My reading journey so far has me reading multiple series and so each month I normally have at least a few (more like a large handful) of continuations to be reading.

Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig – Book 2 in The Shepherd King duology, I’m excited to see how this ends!
City of Ruin by Charissa Weaks – Book 2 in The Witch Collector series – after the bomb shell of an ending with The Witch Collector, you bet I’ll be getting to book 2!
Fate & Furies by Helen Scheuerer – Book 3 in The Legends of Thezmarr series, I hoped I’d have this series finished by the end of the year but it wasn’t meant to be. But still that won’t stop me from trying!
The Plea by Steve Cavanagh – Book 2 in the Eddie Flynn series, and seriously the tag lines on the front of each of the books of this series really know how to pull you in!

New Adventures

You must know by now that I just can’t help myself, I don’t mind having a rather large ambitious TBR especially when there are so many books that I want to get into!

The Crimson Moth by Kristen Ciccarelli – Also know as the Heartless Hunter in America – I’m seeing this everywhere, and apparently I’m really into the witch and witch hunter romance right now!
The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owen – I almost had to get a friend in the Netherlands to buy this for me as I was struggling to get my hands on it, so you bet now I’ve got it I’ll be reading it as soon as possible! Greek Gods? Games and Trials? Hades?! I’m in.
Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco – Another weakness of mine, Princes of Hell and the Deadly Sins – this author combines them! I believe this one is about Wrath!
Nocticadia by Keri Lake – I believe this is a standalone, about a deadly parasite that kills the FMC’s mother I think! Heck, I’m jumping into this book because of TikTok – it’s rare I get all the details first…
Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber – I will prioritise reading Spectacula over Once Upon a Broken Heart but I am so excited for more Jacks that I will still be trying my damndest to get to this book this month!

Book Club Read

The poll results are in and the book club read for Cody & James in December is The Family Experiment by John Marrs. This author is new to me but I have added a bunch of his book to my TBR and have a few ready to go on my kindle because they all sound brilliant! I hope to get to this one early in the month, but I make no promises!

How realistic is the above?

November was a brilliant reading month and so I still think I’m riding that high a bit, I mean I have to be right? In order to put 15 books on my TBR! But more books on my TBR just means I have more choice! There are a few options in there whether I’m looking for YA, NA or even Adult… If I need a break from Fantasy and Romance I can jump into a mystery or a thriller, and if I need an injection of Christmas spirit then I’ve got a couple of Christmas options too!

As always, the TBR is a guideline and not something to be forced. I noted that Rewitched was on my TBR two months in a row and I just didn’t get to it. I still hope to read it but if I keep passing it up in favour of reading something else then it’s probably best not to force it! It still sounds right up my street so I will get to it, I’m just not going to keep including it in the TBRs where it’s getting passed over.

If November taught me anything it’s that sometimes the book you want to read isn’t on your TBR which means you have to be okay with dropping the previous plan in order to let yourself read the thing you want to read. So, whilst I have a lot of choice with this TBR there are a lot of books I opted not to include despite really wanting to read them soon (The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni and Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider immediately jump to mind) and so the TBR could go out the window rather quickly depending on if I’m able to hold off on reading those other books… We shall see.

I love having a TBR to choose from, I wouldn’t change that! I just think we need to be okay with the idea of not managing to read everything on it or straying from it! But as we go into the Holiday month, lets just enjoy whatever we choose to read, okay? You know the drill by now! Grab that blanket and cup of tea, we’ve got some cracking books to read!
