Signa and her cousin Blythe are certain that Fate can save Elijah Hawthorne from prison if they will entertain his presence. Review:

Foxglove is the second book in the Belladonna trilogy, and so there may be spoilers for Belladonna below. Any spoilers for Foxglove will be hidden as normal. Onto the review!

Foxglove was the last book I was able to read in February, and I was really happy with ending my month with this. I definitely enjoyed that we had another mystery to solve and that it felt different to Belladonna’s mystery. That’s especially great as there was definitely a part of me that was worried at the end of Belladonna that Foxglove was going to feel like a repeat. Signa and Death were a couple that I surprisingly just had a good time with. I’m sure if I questioned things too much I’d have issues with them, but honestly I just had such a good time with Belladonna that I had a good time with Signa and Death.

Thankfully we do get Signa and Death again, and I was absolutely here for the development of their relationship… And we got some brilliant moments (including my chosen quote at the bottom of this review) but they were kept a part for a good portion of the book. Not quite separation trope, but close… But regardless I do love them.

So I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel when this book introduced not only a new love interest but also a new POV. That’s because the POV was Blythe – and while I liked her character I did not think that she was going to be a main character… And yeah I definitely didn’t gel with her POV’s the whole way through – I felt like she treats Signa a bit unfairly and yet I kind of understand why she gets to that point… It had me conflicted. But the chapters where Blythe shined, she really shined!

Fate was a damn good character to introduce however I am not his fan. Not remotely. And there is definitely a part of me that is concerned that Wisteria (book 3) will not focus on Signa and Death… and while I am open for Fate to have a chance to make me like him… I do fear I’ll miss Signa and Death more. Ah. Conflicted…

Regardless, it was a solid 4 star rating. So far this series is a very solid 4 star series. It isn’t perfect, but it is absolutely worth the read. The gothic vibes especially in Belladonna were a great addition, and I am hoping that we get to keep the Gothic vibes… I’m having a good time with this series!

“For as long as you’ll have me, you are mine, Signa Farrow. I will burn this world to cinders before I let anyone take you from me.”
