With the exception of the series I’m continuing (though I’m taking Where the Library Hides by Isabel Ibañez off my TBR as Kayleigh’s copy seems to have gotten lost in the post 😥 But as soon as she has her copy, it will be back on the TBR!) I am going to be trying to read as many Kindle Unlimited books this month… because there are SO MANY that I want to read but you can only have 20 on your kindle at once! And I have 20 on my kindle… so it is time to start clearing them out! That does mean that I have an unrealistic TBR for April… but it is what it is. And I didn’t even list them all below!!

Priority

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas (Challenge 25) – Throne of Glass #4 – After Heir of Fire, there was no way that Queen of Shadows would not be considered my priority book in April. My partner has already begun Queen of Shadows so he has a bit of a head start on it, but I will be picking it up relatively quickly in April!

In the middle of…

The Book of Azrael by Amber V. Nicole – Gods & Monsters #1 – I’m actually part way through this one, but sadly did not finish it in March. It’s almost 700 pages long and I’m currently just under half way through the book so it’s going to mess with the stats with March and April for sure! But I just wasn’t able to finish it in time.

The Series Continues

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins – The Hunger Games #0.5 – Did I read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes? No. But I will definitely be reading Sunrise on the Reaping because I love Haymitch. Update: I did start listening to Songbirds so maybe I will finish it before starting sunrise (though I don’t promise).
The Devil’s Advocate by Steve Cavanagh – Eddie Flynn #6 – Got to have my monthly dose of Eddie Flynn! I love this lawyer, and when I’m all caught up with the series, I will be sad about it! But for now I continue to look forwrd to my monthly dose.
Slaying the Vampire Conqueror by Carissa Broadbent – Crowns of Nyaxia #2.5 – Should I have read this before Songbird? Yes… And even though I had it on my kindle, I was desperately waiting for the rerelease in March to read it. So I’m at least getting to it before Fallen! And I’m very pleased to have some Broadbent in my TBR.
Wisteria by Adalyn Grace – Belladonna #3 – I don’t have a clue how Wisteria is going to play out, but I didn’t get round to it in March and so it’s back again for April! Finishing this will complete this trilogy – unless I decide to read Holly when that’s released.
The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson (Challenge 25) – Mistborn #2 – I knew there was a strong chance that I wouldn’t get to The Well of Ascension in March, but that wasn’t because I didn’t want to get to it and so it’s also back for April.
Death by Laura Thalassa – The Four Horsemen #4 – By the end of Famine I had started to lose interest and yet the ending at least peaked my interest enough that I’m back in April and hoping to finish this series.

New Adventures

I want to clear some of the Kindle Unlimited reads I have on my kindle this month! And so that has dictated what is in my ‘new adventures’ section. All of these titles are available on KU in the UK.

The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang – I refuse to remove this off my TBR. I am getting to this book as soon as possible! Blood Over Bright Haven was just so good and I need to know whether M.L Wang needs to be added to my list of autobuy authors or if it was just a one off that I resonated with. Time will tell – the time I pick up The Sword of Kaigen!! I’m excited!!
City of Gods and Monsters by Kayla Edwards – House of Devils #1 – I have had this downloaded on my kindle for so long, but I kept choosing others over it. Why? I actually have no idea. But when I decided that April was going to be the month I tried to get some of my Kindle Unlimited build up read, I was so excited for City of Gods and Monsters!
Home is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose – I have wanted to read this since… May 2024 I think. But at this point I wasn’t a huge user and lover of my kindle, so I kept looking for this book in book stores and never finding it (I’m too introverted to ask for help from a bookseller!) so I never ended up reading it. Imagine my surprise then when I saw it on KU!! I’m looking forward to this one for sure!
Us Dark Few by Alexis Patton – Us Dark Few #1 – Alexis got me on instagram with this one. She did a post that showed who inspired the main characters and I was in from that moment. So I am very much looking forward to reading this. I don’t know much about this book, but that’s just how I like it!
Anathema by Kerri Lake (challenge 25)– The Eating Woods Duology #1 – Anathema is on my 12 inspired by list and after not reading anything from it in March I knew I wanted to get at least one book read from this list in April! Anathema won the coin toss between this and Spark of the Everflame (both are on KU).
The Hope that Kills by Ed James – DI Fenchurch #1 – I am becoming more and more nervous that when I run out of Eddie Flynn I’m going to hit a big reading slump because I no longer have my reliable crime/ thriller to act as a pallete cleanser between all my big fantasies. So, I’m starting the hunt now! And this one is on KU!
The Risk by S.T. Abby – The Mindfuck Series #1 – I have had this on my kindle for a while, because everyone raves about it… But the cover is awful and so I keep putting it off. No mam! We are clearing our Kindle Unlimited reads this month if we can and that means the ones with the covers we don’t like! No more putting it off! (Also, this (well the series) was Jamiee’s book club pick for March!)

Don’t misunderstand me, there are so many other KU books on my Kindle (and wishlist) but I know I won’t get to all of them in April. These are the ones I think I’m going to prioritise though. It may end up that I read other KU books, and that’s totally fine. I just want to try and clear some of them!

Book Club Read(s)

Did I expect to join two more book clubs in March? No I didn’t. Not only did I not expect to join more book clubs, but I didn’t expect to not get to the reads in any of those clubs either! With the exception of one as I’ve already read their book… So here is the plan. I will list all of the books for the three book clubs (if I’m not joining in that month, I’ll add that!) and then we’ll see which of the book clubs I end up getting to! I want to get to one of them, if more then great but I doubt it!!

The Will of the Many by James Islington (Hierarchy #1)
Yep this is still here… I’ve decided to not partake in Cody & James’ book club in April because I still really want to read The Will of the Many and I just didn’t get to it in March.

Heavenly Bodies by Imani Erriu (Heavenly Bodies #1)
This is Jamiee’s Book Club pick in April and I was already desperate to read this!! So, I’m very happy to be getting to it. Heavenly Bodies has been on my radar, but it was actually Emmy’s review that pushed me to buy Heavenly Bodies and push it up on my priority list.

Fearless by Lauren Roberts (Powerless #3)
This is Emmy’s Book Club pick in April and I am very much excited for this. I am a bit worried that I won’t love Fearless as much as Powerless and Reckless, but I’m ready to give it a chance! I also haven’t read Powerful yet and I had originally wanted to read Powerful first so we will have to see if I choose to partake in this read.

How realistic is the above?

Honestly my TBR’s started out feeling realistic but work said ‘I think not!’ and threw everything at me, alongside life throwing unexpected curveballs. And so now what once might have been realistic is now unrealistic… But I can’t help it. I like having lots of books to choose from! So my TBR is rather large.

I don’t hold myself to the rule that I have to read everything on my TBR, I just have a good idea of what I’m in the mood for (mood reader) and so I try and pick a bunch of books that will allow me to read what I’m in the mood for.

The Book Clubs are a fun part of my month where I get to talk to some people about a book we’re all reading but I don’t force myself to get to them if I don’t feel like it. For example, I didn’t get to Cody & James’ book in March, but I want to read it and so I’m skipping April to hopefully read this one. I didn’t even get a chance to look at or vote in the choice for April because I knew I was going to try and get to The Will of the Many.

Ultimately, TBR’s aren’t rules! They’re just a collection of books from our never ending pile of unread books that we’re hoping to get to soon. My TBR is huge, and it’s just not possible to read them all in a month (or probably my lifetime) and so this is just a snippet of it. We’ll see where we get!

It is starting to warm up a little in the UK, but I think it’s still apropriate to grab a blanket and a cup of tea so we can start reading together! Let me know what you’re hoping to read this month!
