I was watching Larry’s Mid Year Book Tag and knew I wanted to answer the questions too! Firstly, I love Larry though I only discovered her earlier this year so I’m relatively knew to her opinions and reading preferances! Here is her video so that you can see her answers to the questions! And just like she said, as this is for the first half of 2025 I will obviously only be including books that I have actually read in 2025 and I’ll be also using her rule of only using a book once, because otherwise I too would end up using the same couple of books over and over again!
Without any further delay, here are the questions she asks and my answers!
- What is the best book you’ve read so far in 2025 – Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
- Flip side, what is the worst book you’ve read so far in 2025 – Not including anything that I have DNFd, The Grace Year by Kim Liggett
- What is the best sequel you’ve read so far in 2025 – I took this to mean literal book 2, and it’s The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber
- And then, the worst sequel you’ve read so far in 2025 – Again, I took this to mean literal book 2, and it’s easily City of Ruin by Charissa Weaks (but the next book was amazing and absolutely worth pushing through for!)

- What new release haven’t you read yet, but want to – Enchantra by Kaylie Smith – I have it! I just never get to it!
- What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year – The Fallen and the Kiss of Dusk by Carissa Broadbent (August!)
- Biggest surprise of the year? – I think I’m going to choose First-Time Caller. It’s a contemporary romance with no magical or fantastical elements and I loved it.
- Do you have a new favorite author (debut or new to you) – Dustin Thao who wrote When Haru Was Here. I adored this book and his writing style so I absolutely need to read the rest of his releases (I believe there are 2 other books he’s released, I might be wrong) and then stalk his release schedule so I can continue to enjoy his work.

- Who is your newest fictional crush – Darrien Cassel from House of Devils – book one is City of Gods and Monsters
- Tell us a book that made you cry – Fearless by Lauren Roberts – I didn’t love this book, but there was a section that ripped my heart out and had been just sobbing my eyes out to the point I couldn’t actually continue reading as I couldn’t read the words on the pages!
- And a book that made you happy – For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn – this felt like coming home, as I’ve been a fan of the TikTok series for a long time.
- What is the most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received) – The hardcover of What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez is simply beautiful and I love that about it.

- What books do you need to read by the end of the year? – Okay, there are a lot of books I need to read by the end of the year but if I was to sum it up
– Rest of the Throne of Glass series (at least! – if I can do the rest of the SJM books then that would be great)
– The Legacy Series by Melissa Roehrich
– The rest of the House of Devils Series by Kayla Edwards
and
– The rest of the Eddie Flynn Series as well as other work by Steve Cavanagh
There are of course plenty of other books that I simply have to read this year, but I’m hoping by vocalising these ones, that will ensure I do in fact get to them.

I enjoyed answering these questions, and it’s fun to look at all the books I’ve read so far this year and consider these questions! Plus with the rule of only using each book once it meant that I had to consider other options to the easy choices which made it quite fun.
