Two villains, one girl, and a deadly battle for happily ever after.
Evangeline Fox ventured to the Magnificent North in search of her happy ending, and it seems as if she has it. She’s married to a handsome prince and lives in a legendary castle. But Evangeline has no idea of the devastating price she’s paid for this fairytale. She doesn’t know what she has lost, and her husband is determined to make sure she never finds out . . . but first he must kill Jacks, the Prince of Hearts.
For some reason, the page linked has now had the blurb translated into French… but I am pretty sure it is the copy I own and it’s in English.
Review:
A Curse for True Love is the final book in the Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy – therefore there may be spoilers for the previous two books in the below review. Any spoilers for A Curse for True Love will be hidden as normal.
What do you mean A Curse for True Love is a lot of peoples least favourite of the series? Did we read the same book? I feared that I wasn’t going to like the amnesia aspect – after Apollo’s move at the end of The Ballad of Never After I was simultaneously eager for book 3 and scared of it. However, I loved the way Stephanie Garber wrote it in this book. I was hooked the whole way through just hoping and praying that things would work out alright.
We got multiple POV’s in the third book, which was totally unexpected and not completely well received. I adored Jack’s chapters! They were a surprise that I was so so glad for. I feel like if we’d gotten Jack’s chapters sooner it would have perhaps ruined the impact of The Ballad of Never After. However, we didn’t get as many as I would have liked because Apollo also got chapters… and I kind of flip-flopped between liking them and just plain hating them (the narrator helped me not hate all of them so much).
Did I feel betrayed because of Apollo’s moves? Yes. I did. Did I love Jacks and all his attempts at keeping Eva alive following the devestating ending of TBoNA? Yes, I did. The only thing that felt a little off to me was the way in which everything was explained. I feel that may have had more to do with the fact that I was listening to the explanations rather than reading them and it meant I couldn’t exactly re-read it as many times as I needed to wrap my head around it… But that little confusion did take me out of the book a bit.
But other than that, like I said, I really enjoyed A Curse for True Love and I can’t believe people say this was the worst book in the trilogy!! If like me, you struggled with Once Upon a Broken Heart, the next two books get better and are absolutely worth pushing through for!
With that, I’ve finished in Stephanie Garber’s YA world! I don’t know if I’d be excited for more stories in this world or not – but I am excited for her Adult debut coming out later in 2025. She’s absolutely a must-buy author for me!!
“Please, Little Fox, remember.”
