2 bombs. 43 dead. Dozens injured. The trial of the decade has begun…

New to the job and with everything to prove, Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Eve Wren is working on the biggest UK trial in decades.

Notorious cult leader Patrick Nye and his followers, known as The Seven, are pleading not guilty to detonating a bomb in a London theatre. Patrick might be charming on the stand, but Eve knows that the evidence never lies.

The trial has already started when Eve discovers a piece of evidence that calls the whole case into question.

With the world watching, every second counts as the clock ticks down on the jury’s verdict. And Eve’s hunt for the truth pulls her into the sinister criminal underbelly and straight into the line of fire…

Review:

For fans of Steve Cavanagh, hm? Bring it on!

I got The Seven as part of the Amazon First Reads back in December, and then promptly forgot about it! That was of course, until my fiancé picked the number 7 for one of my prompts in July. And I am definitely thrilled with how this worked out.

The Seven follows a recently sacked and navigating a new job, lawyer called Eve Wren as she is moved off the case she is currently working on in order to work on reviewing the case for the Norvus case. The Norvus case is one of the biggest UK trial’s in recent decades, that is now in trouble due to a possible screw up that Eve is tasked with checking for.

This book was multi POV, with our main POV being Eve herself, and the other POVs were surviors of the Norvus bombings. Together we got an emotional story that tug on the strings of my heart from the survivors, and an intense mystery from Eve as she tried to navigate all of the unused evidence to check for any screw ups.

Every time I thought I had figured out what was going on, there would be a breadcrumb dropped that would send my mind reeling as I tried to solve the mystery. With that and the pacing, I think Robyn Delvey wrote a brilliant tale! I could have absolutely seen this as a crime procedural on the BBC – and if it ever happens, sign me up to watch!

I think this is going to be a series of interconnected standalones as The Seven was a wrapped up story – in terms of the case Eve is working on. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what Eve does next!
