I was really good to myself in October! Not only did I make great progress on my chosen TBR for the month of October, but also I was kind to myself and let myself read books not on my prompt picked TBR because they were wanted I wanted to read! I hope I take this lesson forward into the coming months because I have been so much happier this month in my reading as a result of not guilting myself to read what was picked in the prompt post.
So, first things first…
I’m in the middle of…
Dracula by Bram Stoker – eBook (through Kindle Unlimited) & Audiobook
My friend has been ON AT ME for so long to read Dracula. This October is finally the time! I’m switching between audio and eBook – depending on where I am. So far I’ve been really enjoying it! I think the narration definitely helps me enjoy it more though!
The Twelve by Justin Cronin – Audiobook
There is no issue with The Twelve, just unfortunately Andy & I have been watching other things in our evenings and it hasn’t left time for us to listen to the audiobook. What I have listened to so far is definitely interesting and shockingly I’m finding that whilst i’m missing our cast from The Passage, I’m enjoying getting to know our current cast!
Until The World Falls Down by Jordan Lynde – eBook (through Kindle Unlimited)
This is the last book of my October TBR to be started but the first couple of chapters gave me the ick a bit to be honest… I’m still going with it because I think the premise has some potential! So I’m withholding judgement at the moment!

Onto the fun stuff!
Picks from the TBR Prompt Jar!
1. Read a book by an author you’ve met
This definitely doesn’t happen often – I’m including a reread on my TBR chosen by the Prompt Jar! And this one was actually somewhat difficult – I haven’t done many book events, and especially not recently… So I was left with only two options for this one, and one of them I’m hoping to actually get to before October ends so, a reread it is! We’re choosing Storm & Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout because I thought I had finished this trilogy but it actually turns out I have not – but I don’t remember a lot of the information for this trilogy which means of course I need to reread so that I can finally finish this trilogy off!
2. Read a book under 300 pages
I will be honest and say I simply did not want to go searching for books under 300 pages because I often find a bunch that are just over… So, I knew that You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao was under 300 pages and so I immediately chose that! I have You’ve Found Oliver so I know that there is a big chance I will read the follow up right after… Time will tell! Thankfully they’re both pretty short.
3. Read a book by a new to you author
There are a lot of new to me authors on my TBR, but even though this is in spot 3 it was one of the last I picked and everything was a physical read which meant I was going to struggle to read while on my lunch breaks at work (as I don’t like taking my books to work if I can help it!)… So I needed a kindle read. And if you know me… you know I hate having to scroll through my kindle to look for anything, so I went with Spark of the Everflame by Penn Cole as it is on my 12 books to read by the end of 2025! The other option that I considered was Hollow Heathens by Nicole Fiorina but since Spark of the Everflame was on a challenge, it won out!
4. Read a book over 500 pages
I’m doing it guys… Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas is on the prompt TBR for November! I am determined to finish the Throne of Glass series in 2025! And in October I have almost picked this up on a couple of occassions so I know I’m finally ready to dive in! My partner who is reading the series alongside of me is still on Empire of Storms so I will be going ahead without him now because I want to finish it this year.
5. Read a Fantasy
I had three books that I told myself I had to pick between – because I was so excited to read all three of them… My partner then chose between those three, so here are the options:
1. A Dance of Lies by Brittney Arena
2. Silvercloak by L.K. Steven
3. Warrior Princess Assassin by Brigid Kemmerer
And he chose Silvercloak – I think it was when I said that I’m pretty sure this has like an undercover detective storyline in this magical world! I’m not surprised that sold him on Silvercloak, honestly.
6. Read a book less than 500 pages
All three of my priority paperback TBR are under 500 pages but only one of them would complete a series and so I figured that I would do that one because I have a lot of series that are unfinished despite all of the books being out… So I chose Slaying the Shadow Prince by Helen Scheuerer and I’m very excited for this one!

Digital TBR Take Down

The Irresistible urge to fall for your enemy
Well, my wheel is picking the books that have recently joined my Digital TBR consistently because now we have The Irresistible Urge to Fall for your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley… I’m scared for this one because I haven’t seen any reviews directly about this one except for one and it wasn’t positive… But, as always I’m going in blind and forming my own opinion!
