November! What a month! So much happened in November that had me so bookishly happy!

I managed to get some fairyloot books that I was beyond excited for (The Selection trilogy, The Ruinous Love trilogy and Metal Slinger). I managed to finish the Throne of Glass series which was unexpected but I’m so glad I finally got that ticked off my goal list this year! And read some of the books I was looking forward to getting to all year! So I really cannot complain about that!

Here is what I read in November

I didn’t manage to read my entire TBR, or hopeful list but honestly? What I did read was excellent. I’m so beyond happy with everything I read in November! I have started Spark of the Everflame, just unfortunately didn’t finish it in time for the November Wrap Up. We’ll just casually ignore TIUTFFYE…(it was a DNF).

I didn’t expect to read Kingdom of Ash in November but after failing to read any fantasy after Tower of Dawn, I knew I had to abandon plans to read the Throne of Glass finale! It didn’t hit the way I had hoped based on all the comments I received, but still, it was a good ending to the series!

Book Bracket Entry – Favourite Book of the Month

book of the month
Tower of Dawn by sarah j. maas

Easily the best book I read in November was Tower of Dawn – I don’t think I expected that to be the case!! But it does often happen that if I have put off picking a book up for so long, that it does turn out to rock my world. This one is so nearly a 6 star read for me, just the vibes didn’t quite push it over the edge. This was an excellent example of how to write a character arc!!

Runner up
silvercloak by l.k. steven

A wand based magic system in a world where your pain is fuelled by pleasure and enhanced by pain, and the orders are identifiable by the cloaks they wear? This already sounded amazing. But then I read it and it was phenonanal. I had an excellent time with this one, and cannot wait for book 2!

Biggest Surprise of the Month

the irresistible urge to fall for your enemy by brigitte knightley

It’s not even funny how disappointed and let down I was by this book. To the point where I can’t even write a review on it because I DNF’d it and that’s not fair on the author. But this was absolutely not for me, even the hints at a slow burn couldn’t hold me in.

General Reflection

November was an excellent month for reading, up until it wasn’t. And at that point I was just so tired from work (and struggling at work because of it!) that I didn’t even have any energy left for reading. It didn’t help that I was trying to force myself to read The Irresistible Urge To Fall For Your Enemy so that I could talk about it knowing what the full book was about… It nearly slumped me. However, even though I am finding right now that I don’t have the time for reading in big chunks, I’m still reading a couple of chapters a night – and that’s enough for me in situations like this!
