February was the first month in a while where I felt like I was doing fine and then suddenly lost all motivation to read my TBR. Because of that I contemplated doing a Free Reign month where I don’t have a TBR in March, but I want to save that to coincide with some time off work so that I can perhaps dedicate another 24 hours to solid reading! So we are holding off, and instead we are going to push on ahead and pick another TBR for March!

So, first things first…

I’m in the middle of…

Morning Star by Pierce Brown – Graphic Audio
I think there is a good chance I will have finished this by the time this post is actually going live, however at the time of writing this I am on part 2 of the graphic audio! And absolutely loving it. I think the full cast is helping, but also the story in book 3 is just so much more filled with things happening that I haven’t been bored once and I’ve even sobbed my heart out. I’m getting five star feelings for this, which I did not expect after giving Golden Son 2 stars.

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab – Kindle & Hardback
I was really enjoying this one, and then my mood changed and as a result I realised I probably would end up hating this book if I kept reading it, so I put a pin in it. Luckily I’m back and feeling up for it again! So, I’m excited to finish this one.

Fate of the Sun King by Nisha J. Tuli – Kindle
I did not expect to be reading this series, but when my mood switched something about Trials of the Sun Queen called out to me immediately and so I read it and it did not let me down. It settled the urge I had and so I immediately picked up book two upon completion, and now I’m finding that I cannot stop reading the series. I’m not angry about it, this was my preferred way to read series’ when I was younger! I started jumping around when I started making content and such… We’re onto book 3 now, Fate of the Sun King and I’m excited for this series!

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation has ‘abandoned’. I stopped reading it at work because I realised I simply couldn’t concentrate on the names and things with only one hour reading stints every day… And I haven’t had a weekend where I can read it yet! So, I am hoping to get to this one soon because my friend recommended it to me, but I need to read it at a time where it’s not going to get terribly rated just because I’m not in the mood.

Onto the fun stuff!

Picks from the TBR Prompt Jar!

1. Read a Sequel (a book 2 specifically!)

I narrowed this down, but ultimately decided there was a clear winner… And I chose Glint by Raven Kennedy. The others all required me to read the book 1 again really in order to pick them, with the exception of one that I was pretty convinced would just make me cry as all the other books by this author have made me cry. So, it really was an easy choice in the end.

2. Read the book with the longest title on your TBR cart

I’ll be honest, this one is not something I’d be picking in March of all months to read… but the prompt has spoken! And we’re reading (well it’s on the TBR at least!) How To Survive a Horror Movie by Scarlett Dunmore. I had hoped to read this in October last year but I just didn’t get to it! I’m still excited to pick this one up though, I think it is going to be somewhat comedic as well, which as we know is not a genre I normally go to… So, we shall see!

3. Read a book from your 26 in 2026 list!

Once again, I narrowed this down to a couple, and honestly it was really hard to settle on one in the end. But, I chose This Monster of Mine by Shalini Abeysekara! It sounds so intriguing! About a girl who is training to be a prosecutor because she wants to investigate her own attempted murder from years before? And it’s FANTASY!? Sign me up.

4. Read a book on your TBR cart specifically

Okay, I narrowed this down to a couple – as always – and kind of regret my picking just because I’ve been thinking non stop about a different book since I made this choice. But I made the choice, and I am sticking with it! I will probably just pick the other book up anyway… Regardless, the chosen book is The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynne Barnes. I think I chose I ultimately chose this over the others because it has a dark green cover which means it matches the vibes of the other covers I’ve chosen so far… Not the best reason to pick a book, but it’s what happened!

5. Read a book you got just for the cover

Now, most of the books I purchased just because of the cover I have already read in most cases. So, this came down to two books that I could immediately think of as having purchased just because of the cover… But then I remembered that the other one I picked up because of the cover but purchased because it was on sale, so we ended up with The Wren in the Holly Library by K.A. Linde.

6. Treat Yourself! Buy a book and read it.

Sooooo, I went off the rails with this one. I ended up purchasing a fairyloot book, which is the pick for this prompt, however if we get to like mid March and it hasn’t arrived… I also purchased two back up books… So, let’s talk about them. The chosen book, the fairyloot purchase, is Bitten by Jordan Stephanie Gray. I am so excited about this one – whilst I have definitely been missing Vampires, I’ve also been missing Werewolves! So I am very excited for this one.

The back up books are purchases off Vinted so definitely will arrive in time. I purchased the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Lani Taylor and Heir of Illusion by Madeline Taylor and either of these will work for the prompt as a back up!!

Digital TBR Take Down

Gothikana by RyNyx

I wasn’t really sure when this landed if I was going to be even remotely in the mood for it… But honestly it sounds brilliant, so i’m going with it! Hopefully, it ends up being read! With two of the books on my TBR being kindle reads, I didn’t feel like I needed to choose a Digital Take Down option, but honestly I’ve been feeling myself drawn back to the kindle after spending January & February favouring physical reads. So, I wanted there to be another kindle option!
