Synopsis: Goodreads

Freed from the golden clutches of the Sun King, Lor now finds herself in the hands of Nadir, the Aurora Prince. Convinced she’s hiding something, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make her talk. But Lor knows the value of secrets—she’s been keeping them her entire life—and she’s not letting hers go without a fight. When Lor and Nadir team up to search for a lost item that holds the key to her past and her future, she isn’t sure she can trust him. All she knows is she won’t fall for another royal fae’s promises again. With the Sun King determined to reclaim her, Lor must keep on the move, but nowhere is safe. Not until she destroys him and the Aurora King. But she soon learns that the future of Ouranos depends on much more than avenging her shattered legacy.

Review:

Rule of the Aurora King is the sequel to Trial of the Sun Queen, and as such there may be spoilers in the below for the first book in the series. If there are any spoilers for Rule of the Aurora King, they will be hidden as normal.

As I said in my review of Trial of the Sun Queen, I didn’t expect to be reading that book this month – let alone diving immediately into book 2. What can I say? Sometimes, I’m really just in the mood for an easy, fun, fast paced read, with good characters and a story that holds my interest and is fun. I don’t care if it’s the most unique thing. I don’t care if it has quotes to make me weep. I just want fun. And this series is delivering that for me so far!

I think I enjoyed book 1 slightly more, because I’m easily pleased when it comes to trials in books apprently. But with that said, there are trials for Lor still in book 2, in the sense of situations and challenges she has to get through because they’re not the norm for her, or challenging… They’re not called trials, but they do give a similar vibe!

We spend more time with Lor and Nadir, and even Amya in Rule of the Aurora King and honestly I’m so happy for it. I really like these siblings and so spending more time with them is a win for me. I do miss Gabriel and I definitely have some unanswered questions still from the Sun King’s court – questions that are only getting more in number thanks to a surprise POV in book 2. And that’s the POV of Serce and I love this POV. I’m glad it isn’t appearing every other chapter, but every time one does show up – I’m sat.

I am definitely continuing to have a great time with this series and I’m continuing this trend by diving right into book three – Fate of the Sun King. I’ll get to the TBR… I will! But I really am just enjoying this story and I want answers, I want to find out what the plan is, and I just like the characters. I like the further exploration of the world, past and present, that we’re getting and I’m excited to get more.

“I’ll show her how it can be with someone who worships every inch of her body from their knees.”
