Hi! My name is Tyler and I’m returning to the book reviewing world – finally after a… seven year absense!
I used to run the blog The Reading Pile, but after graduating university and joining the world of work I quickly fell out of love with reading due to a new level of exhaustion that I wasn’t prepared for. This led to my blog going unused and unloved. Last year I dipped my toes back into the world of reading and reviewing over on my goodreads and then this year I chose to start using the book-stgram of the same name.
So, why not jump back into the world of blogging too? I love talking about books, and encouraging friends to do the same. It feels like a good time to start doing this again, and so here I am! I’ve got reviews lined up for you, going back to the start of 2024 that I’m excited to post! Let’s see where this journey goes!
We used to do all sorts of Tags on my previous blog and whilst I don’t think they’ll be making a come back necessarily, I did want to share a bit about me before we jump into the review backlog!
Who am I?
- My name is Tyler-Rose
- I am 30 years old
- I am engaged
- I am also a cat mom!
- As well as reading, I enjoy PC games, Board Games and Dungeons and Dragons
- I love musical theatre!
- I also enjoy baking and cooking (though I don’t do either often enough
- I have recently gotten back into Cross Stitching, and added two more hobbies to the list: diamond painting and crochet
What do I enjoy reading?
To start off I am a fiction girlie – I might read non-fiction every now and then but this blog won’t feature any of that. I’ll be the first to admit that I am absolutely a mood reader, which means one day I might be reading fantasy and the next a thriller. I also jump between books! I’ll have a couple on the go and I’ll switch between them depending on the mood I’m in, but also where I am!

- Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout (and the rest of the Lux Series)
- Wicked by Jennifer L Armentrout (and the rest of the trilogy)
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros (and the rest of the series)

- One Dark Window & Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig
As you’ll notice a name popped up a lot in my favourites – Jennifer L Armentrout is one of those authors that can essentially do no wrong. I love everything she writes, and I had to stop myself from including all of her series’ in that list! Even as I write this I’m debating adding them in still!
I made a lot of new author discoveries in 2024, Carissa Broadbent and Helen Scheuerer were 2 of those new discoveries. I fell in love with their work and I am convinced they can’t write anything other than gold.
Ooo what about some of my other favourites? I love playing games, so here are a few of those!
