What do I offer?

Reviews with my Honest Thoughts

I will review the books that I read, whether positive or not. As a result, if you ask me to review a book for you, I reserve the right to post my honest thoughts. All books that I did not purchase will have a notice that says how I got the book included in the review.

Any review I post will have my honest thoughts in them. But none of my reviews are published if they are totally negative. If I did not enjoy a book enough to write anything positive about it, it will be on goodreads only in the form of a 1 star review.

Rating System

I will be using a 5 Star rating system (if something is given 6 stars this just means that I’m simply obsessed – it hits 5 stars and more!).
5 Stars – Brilliant book, delivered on everything it said it would
4 Stars – Great book, sometimes better than I expected, sometimes just as expected! Maybe lacked on a few areas but nothing major
3 Stars – Average, I enjoyed it but it isn’t the best I’ve read
2 Stars – Usually reserved for books that feel incomplete, or confusing
1 Stars – Couldn’t get on with this at all, finished it but felt like a waste of time
DNF – Difference between a full DNF and a soft DNF – Soft DNF means I’ll probably pick it up again. Full DNF means that I have no intention of trying again later.

As mentioned, 1 star reviews will appear on my Goodreads only. There will also be partial ratings, because sometimes I can’t make my mind up!

Spice Rating

Previously I used Spice or Steam but I’m changing it up. It will be the below (from romance.io):

Glimpses & Kisses (🌶️) – No sex on or off the page, but kisses and tension and yearning!
Behind Closed Doors (🌶️🌶️) – Sex is off the page
Open Door (🌶️🌶️🌶️) – Likely only 1 or 2 scene(s) where sex is on the page, euphemistic language used
Explicit Open Door (🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️) – Likely more scenes where sex is on the page, explicit language used
Explicit & Plentiful (🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️) – Same as Explicit Open Door, might dip into more adventurous acts of sex (i.e. kinks), and they’re plentiful throughout the book.

Instagram Posts

On Instagram I’ll be posting about the book I’m reading whether that’s a ‘half way check in’ or a mini review or some other kind of post featuring the books I’m reading.

Additionally I will be posting monthly what have I read updates in my stories! These will include a star rating also.

TikTok Posts

I have joined the world of TikTok, and so there are is an option for me to post a video about books! So far the mini reviews from Instagram are also posted on TikTok.

If a book is gifted for a review, this does not mean I will post anything other than my own opinions about the book and an honest rating. Additionally, if I did not enjoy the book at all, I reserve the right to not post a review.

Instagram Posts

So, I went through my books read this year and realised that not only was I having rating regrets on a few books, but also that there were many months this year where I read a lot of excellent reads! As a result, picking the best and worst book of the month came down to ratings first, and what stuck with me second. Alchemy of Secrets by Stephanie Garber was described as an adult Caraval - and I adored Caraval so naturally I was hyped for this release. Then the reviews came out which made me nervous… I put it off until I drew it for a TBR prompt and then accidentally ended up buddy reading it with a friend. I had an excellent time doing so. Here’s the thing, there are so many books releasing next year, and there is no way I have heard about them all or have them all on this list… but this list are the ones I either have on preorder or reminders set to buy them (because I can’t keep surprising myself with these preorders that you have to pay for later!!). Oh it feels GOOD to have actually read book 2 in this trilogy! When I picked to reread Storm and Fury I knew I needed to actually continue the trilogy and finish it this time, so naturally I’m really pleased to have prioritised that and read Rage and Ruin!
