With secrets unravelling and evil closing in, Thea and Wilder fight to save the world, and each other. The fate of the realms rests in their hands – will they emerge victorious, or will the darkness consume them both?
Review:
Vows & Ruins is the second book in the Legends of Thezmarr series and so there will be spoilers for book one. There are also minor spoilers for the relationship continuation into book 2.
So in book one, I loved Thea. In book two, this girl had her issues. She held a grudge for far too long in my opinion and I sadly found her to be more on the annoying side for a good portion of this book. That being said, I still found that the plot of this book was DAMN GOOD! Following Thea and Wren’s discovery of their powers and their parentage they’re having to, in secret, learn how to control their powers and learn what is expected of them as heirs to a fallen kingdom. Oh and at the same time, Thea is learning from her Mentor because after all the clock is ticking for her.
Wilder and I did not get on in Vows & Ruins. He was constantly keeping Thea in the dark which meant their relationship was stifled and I just wasn’t a fan. Between Wilder doing that and Thea’s unending grudge, I just didn’t enjoy their relationship as much as in book 1. That was disappointing for me. That being said, when shit hit the fan, it truly hit the fan.
When I say the plot of this book was damn good, I mean it. I didn’t need the romance and spice from book 1 to keep me hooked on this book. The story did that, itself. Between the propechy, the threat of war, the magic and the relationships (both platonic and romantic) this book was a brilliant read that had me hooked and kept me invested the whole way through. I went on a rollercoaster of emotions and my heart still hasn’t recovered.
I can only imagine what book 3 will bring us after the ending of Vows & Ruins, but I am here for it and I cannot wait. I can’t help but wonder if this series could possibly even have a happy ending… time will tell!
“If there’s one thing that transcends time and distance and all else, it’s love.”
