Review:

This is book 3 in The Legends of Thezmarr series, and so there will be spoilers for books 1 and 2 in the review below. There are also minor spoilers throughout as it feels wrong not to discuss my most disliked trope: separation. So please, if you don’t want even the smallest of spoilers, read Fate & Furies before reading the below.

I’m convinced Helen Scheuerer cares not for my feelings! Because Fate & Furies dragged me through the mud and then lifted me so high only to drop me again. And it’s not the first time she’s done this! Helen writes bloody brilliant cliffhangers, and even though you know they’re coming… you’re shocked when you get there! Following the end of Vow & Ruins we now know Wilder is a traitor and is working for the dark side, so to speak and so Fate & Furies picks up a year after book 2 as Thea, Cal and Kipp are chasing after Wilder trying to bring him to justice…

I’ll admit, I was team Thea for a bit. I don’t care how hot you are Wilder, you betrayed my girl! And that’s not okay! I loved Thea’s thirst for justice in this book. It felt incredibly true to the character we’d grown to love – for her to not immediately back down and betray everything she knows and wants for a guy… And yet, I found myself after every encounter wishing Wilder would just say or do the right thing so they could make up. Because damn are they good together! I’m sure this came from my dislike of the separation trope, but honestly I think this was written so well that even though they were separated it didn’t join the list of books ruined by this trope!

Cal and Kipp get a special mention because I adore these men. And if anything ever happens to them, I will be raging for them. For as much as I love Thea and Wilder, Cal and Kipp and some of the best friends & found family ever written. They do what’s best for Thea even if she doesn’t want them to or it goes against what Thea wants and I appreciate that about them.

Shadow & Storms is up next and is the final book in this series, and I am terrified for what is to come… that being said, this whole damn series so far has been a 6 star read for me, so it has a lot to live up to (I have faith!).

“For whatever it’s worth,’ he told her hoarsely, ‘I’ll never stop being yours.”
