I have rewritten this multiple times this month because for the majority of February I felt rather like it had been a rough reading month. It wasn’t really until the last week of the month where I accepted that although it hadn’t felt like the best month, in terms of reading it hadn’t been half bad! I had an ambitious TBR this month, and still I managed to get to a lot of the books on it! Of the 13 books on the main TBR, 10 got read! Not bad going, honestly.
So here are the books I read in February:
After January I thought I was set for a great reading year! Then February knocked me down multiple pegs… However, I had the best reading month in terms of the books I read – even The Assassin’s Blade which was my lowest rating of 3 Stars, was still a good read (just not all that neccesary).

I loved What the River Knows, the vibes were great (The Mummy is one of my favourite movies…), the characters had great banter and chemistry, the plot was plotting! There wasn’t anything not to like about it. I only wish I’d read it in a different month to Iron & Embers because I was very torn on which to make the Book of the Month!
I almost gave the BoM spot to Iron & Embers by Helen Scheuerer. And it was so difficult to decide that I was still umming about it on the very last day I had to make my mind up!! Ultimately, because I couldn’t decide, I chose What the River Knows as Helen Scheuerer is already a BoM holder for January… Not that that’s fair since both are great books… I just needed to make a decision an it was that or flip a coin!
Biggest Surprise of the Month
The wolf and the witch by charissa weaks
I haven’t been this series’ biggest cheerleader, with both previous books not quite making the 4 star mark… The Wolf and the Witch however! Brilliant. It was almost a 5 star, but it didn’t feel right giving it a 5 star review when the flow wasn’t quite right. But the fact that I loved this novella was absolutely the biggest surprise to me this month.
General reflection
I was originally sad by the fact that I’d felt like February had been an awful reading month… but when I gathered all the information together I decided to heck with that! It might not have felt great (books taking longer to read than normal… only getting a couple chapters read a day…) but that didn’t change the fact that every book I read was great. Even my ratings in the 3-4 star range were good books and I really enjoyed them!
I think it just goes to show that you don’t have to be reading you know, crazy numbers like 10+ books every month! As long as you’re enjoying what you are reading, then it’s a win! I’m very aware that the fact that I read 10 books is not everyone’s ‘normal’ – and honestly it’s not my normal until somewhat recently! – and like I said once I put it all together I felt much happier about my reading month.
