Review:
Daybreak is the sequel, and conclusion, to the Sorrowsong Univeristy duology. It began with Nightshade and so there may be spoilers for that below, but if there are spoilers for Daybreak then they will be hidden as normal.
At the end of Nightshade, I was really worried about this second stalker set up because I really didn’t want there to be a twist where the first stalker somehow survived, or just a repeated story in the finale to this duology. I need not have worried though, because once the story started and I began trying to piece things together, I really liked what Autumn did!
The second stalker wasn’t the only story line going on, as expected based on the catastrophic ending of Nightshade… and this being in the background of the situation constantly had me on edge. Not only did it have me on edge, but of course Alex was on edge too… but I am forever grateful to how he ended up handling the situation with Ophelia because it led to an unforgetable art class scene was excellent.
The flirting and the yearning from Nightshade continues in Daybreak – if you’ve seen my Goodreads updates you’ll probably have seen me complaining about email drafts, and believe me, so will you when you read Daybreak! I simply love Alex and his love for Ophelia! And I love seeing Ophelia make decisions in Daybreak for her.
This was such a good duology – defintely one that you can read over a couple days back to back and not be bored. I’m excited to see what Autumn does next! I cannot fault Daybreak, it was unquestionably a five star read for me.
